The Royal Diplomatic Reception returned to the Throne Hall
The Royal Diplomatic Reception returned this year to the Throne Hall of the Royal Palace in Bucharest, for the first time after 1947. In the presence of the Dean of the Diplomatic Corps, the Apostolic Nuntio, of representatives of the Government and of the Royal Household, the Diplomatic Corps accredited to Romania was invited by Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Margareta, Custodian of the Crown. Their Royal Highnesses Prince Radu and Princess Marie were in attendance. The ceremony in the Throne Hall was followed by dinner, offered by the Custodian of the Crown in the State Dining Room. The very first Royal Diplomatic Reception in our country took place 150 years ago, in the same palace, in December 1866, and was hosted by Carol I, then Prince Sovereign of the Romanian United Principalities. In December 1997, His Majesty King Michael hosted in Bucharest the first Royal Diplomatic Reception after his return to the country. Ever since, the event took place annually, either in the Kings’ Hall of Elisabeta Palace, or in the State Hall of Pelesh Castle.
